Hi Jack,

With these new birds from America on ebay for sale, they are being bred with the English strains, so lots of new varieties are popping out. Yours could be anything at this stage, as there is no govening body to decide on what they should be called.

I'm not up on Cpq colours, I'm still trying to get my head around some of the oddities I got myself from Platinums Japanese.

Does anyone know what this chick will turn out like? It looks darker and more speckled to me than Jackboy's bird - is it too young to tell?

It came from Derek's eggs.

Hi,

Here we go again, lolol ( I'm glad I got a new camera, if it was'nt pouring with rain I'd be snapping like a tourist)

I called that colour variety a Platinum range, siver ranges are a lot lighter. This variety if it's a male will get a lovey rich orangey mohogany chest feathering, it will lose most of the light greyish colour and become a very dark steel greyish/brown top colour.

When it becomes dry, I will photograph some of my birds with the names I call them.

Derek.

I'm sorry Derek, but I spent what ... 12 months experimenting with these colour ... but since sending you down some eggs from MY strains, you've decided to take credit for developing the colours and decided to rename them - I really don't think its fair that you come along on the back of my work and undermine me ..... So far, crossing the birds to each other has not produced offspring that breed true so it is impossible to call one a silver and one a platinum with any scientific certainty, but coming from an artistic back ground I chose the colour that fits best. I do not appreciate being told I am "wrong" about birds of a colour that I have developed.

You seem to forget that until recently you only kept normals .... saying that colours were a waste of time you only wanted easy to sex quail until you realised I was onto something 'special'
