Bob White info

Hi Guys. I have just got myself 2 bobwhites. There quite young and very lovely.Do these quail need a perch to roost on? and how do i sex them. Thanks.

Mine laughed at the perch I gave them!

How old are they, and what colour? I think normal northern bobs are sexable at about 12 weeks.

They are sort of dark brown with white eye stripes,and they are smaller than my Japanese adult quail which makes me think they are young because i always thought bob whites were bigger.

Bobwhites do grow bigger than your average Japs, but they grow much slower. What you're describing sounds like a standard northern bobwhite. The males eventually develops a white mask and the females have a fawn mask.
