Easy in standard & silver colour when fully feathered. Standard cocks chests are bluish grey with russet markings, notably in the centre of the abdomen. He will have a black chin and face marking with a white bib, the white bib and paler face markings are also present on silver cocks. In contrast to the colourful male the standard hen are brown with blackish stripes.
Colour Mutations -
New varieties are being developed all the time. Varieties readily available include - white, fawn, cinnamon, silver, blue faced, red breasted and black mutations.

Characteristics -
Pretty & quite little bird which make them an ideal addition to small bird aviary.
Can be very flighty when spooked, have a tendency to boink straight up.
Chicks are extremely small and can be easily drowned, they are also expert escapees.
Housing -
Can be housed in aviaries, rabbit hutches and budgie breeding cages as long as shelter from the elements is provided. Housing must be secure as CPQ are vulnerable to predators. Food and water vessels must be within easy reach at ground level, as they will not find food above them.
Due to there small size, it is better to keep these quail indoors, in a frost free enviroment during the winter months.
