Bobwhites hatching their own eggs? Empty Bobwhites hatching their own eggs?

Post by jdempz Sat Apr 19, 2008 1:53 am

Hello,

Is it possible to encourage bobwhites to sit and hatch their own eggs, I'd love to be able to raise some naturally, but most of the info on the net suggests that bobwhites that were hatched in an incubator will have no parenting skills. What have your experiences been?

Cheers

Hiya

I've 3 broody bobettes at the minute, my problem is stopping the other girls dumping their eggs in the broodies nests Rolling Eyes I went out this afternoon to find the newest broody trying to sit on about 2 dozen eggs, I'm away back out with the camera.

Will let you know if they hatch any out.

Awww - ambitious girl you have there Suz! One of my chooks went broody in the nest box and you should have seen her when one of the others laid in the next nest box! She didn't know what to do. Tried fluffing herself to cover that one as well!! Smile
