Named :D
I guess I better start posting in here rather than chicks, since they're nearly 4 weeks!
Top 2 are named after friends, Button - because she's always been small, and Tigger - because she had cute black stripes when she was ikkle.

Hi,
Now you mention it Emma, I alway select the darkest coloured males (chests) for further breeding, it could be possable for the male marking coming out in the females? But there again, I always select the most spotted female for breeding too.
Derek.

Re: Named :D
I had a couple of people round yesterday who are interested in getting quail and wanted to ask questions, and I picked up a girl and stumpy (the only boy from your eggs I kept) and was trying to say "look how different they are" and then realised that they weren't strikingly so I've also got some who are completely "normal" with a creamy chest and the dark speckles.
In other animals breeding dark to dark gives dark, so it might make sense that if you have a darker coloured male you'll get slightly darker females too. Nino's normal A&M hens have darker chests than the normal japs we're used to, its really quite pretty.

Hi Claire,
lol, it still looks like it's both sexes, but the amount of spots still makes me thing she's female. Just wait for a egg, lol.
