Bob's Gone Empty Bob's Gone

Post by Suz on Mon May 19, 2008 11:06 am

6pm yesterday evening just reached Aberdeen returning from the funeral in Glasgow to a panic phone call from my mum ..... police were at my house, some A*hole's had broken into my aviary & conservatory releasing my bob's, growers & some Jap's pens in the early hours of Sunday morning ..... apparently the police had been down to village umpteen times between Saturday evening and Sunday morning ... all trouble stemming from a 50th birthday party that got out of hand.

We spent hours yesterday evening out searching the undergrowth with bandy nets looking for quail ... Sammy found a little Bob hen at about 9pm who was making her way home, but the rest were nowhere to be seen, this morning I was woken from a very restless sleep to banging on the door ... 11 bobs were out in my drive way Smile so we've managed to herd them back into the aviary and I had a phone call 20 minutes ago, a neighbour 5 gardens away spent yesterday morning rounding up Japs from his garden and locking them in his shed until our return ... he estimates he's got about 40, hubby and I are heading round in a minute with some crates .....

I'll keep you updated of any returns

Suz Sad

ohh no!

I know this is no consolation, but once you’ve recovered what you can make a list of what is missing and how much it would cost you to replace them. That way the drunken fool can pay for it when he is sober.

If he refuses to pay threaten him with legal action for trespass and vandalism. That will sober him up.

Some padlocks are in order.

Unfortunately there's still about 50 missing bobwhites, been out looking most of the day and can't hear a peep from them. My hubby built a recall trap after a nice guy from America sent us plans, but as none of the food have been touched I guess they are no longer in the area .... I've no idea how far Bob's could get in the 9 hours before we started looking for them Sad

PS. new padlocks been bought this time I'll make sure I actually lock them Embarassed

Thanks everyone Smile

A woman came to the door with a huge cage containing a male bob about an hour ago ... she saw 4 hens earlier that morning so fingers crossed they return to her garden in the morning.

We'll build up your stocks again. Don't worry. But I'm sure a lot of your bobs will make their way home in the next few days. They know where they're well looked after!

The generosity of our forum members never ceases to amaze me ..... thank you everyone Smile Smile & huge hugs to Dave, Nino, Harrie & Emma who have offered help restocking and loads of moral support.

Lottie .... its lovely to see you on the go again, I've been keeping tabs on your progress via your blogs and just wanted you know that I have been thinking of you & am wishing you a speedy recovery.

Mark ..... I've got my suspicions on who behind this, but I can prove anything Mad .... did you manage to get any of your growers back or have you had to start from scratch??

I'm hoping that the free Bob's are beginning to get hungry and are thinking about heading home. Once the kids are off to school the dogs and I are taking a walk further up the river side as there was reports of 'strange birds' in the hotel gardens .... so fingers crossed

I'm so sorry to hear about all your birds.

Its hard to imagine the mentality of people who do this sort of thing.

Though on a good not its nice to hear of all the people who acre enough to catch the ones they come across and bring them back to you. Gives some faith in human nature.

Post by Suz on Wed May 21, 2008 10:18 pm

I got a pair of bobs back this afternoon they were sun bathing in a garden across from the village primary school. Had umpteen phone calls today .. folk saying they have seen my quail in there gardens over the past few days but hadn't realised they belonged to anybody just figured they were partridges ... so fingers crossed as word spreads around the village folk either catch them or phone me in time to go round with the cat basket & pink bandy net Smile
