Duck eggs
Hi Ppl , again as always i need any advice that can be given to me. I have 5 duck eggs inside my home made incubator, which were due to have hatched on Friday, it is now Monday and just this morning i decided to candle them out. I could clearly see that on the edge of the air part, something moved, well it happened with 3 of the five. Friday was the 28 day of incubation and from the little experiance i have with incubation, i can say that the most my eggs have taken to hatch is one day. Can someone give me any advice on what to do, remember they are 3 days overdue!

Re: Duck eggs
Hi,
Do don't say what breed/species of duck eggs you have.
Most duck eggs take as you say 28 days to hatch, some species of duck can take upto 35 days, eg Muscovy.
3 days is a very long time overdue, I would expect them to of died before this. I personally would throw the eggs away.
Derek.

Re: Duck eggs
if you have a home made incubator and your thermostat doesn't keep the temperature stable, this can affect the hatch date by a day or 3 (I've hatched quails egg 3 days late, but they tended to die).
It also depends on the species and variey as Derek mentioned. I've found my mini appleyard tend to hatch in 25 days.

Re: Duck eggs
i`d give them till wednesday-ish,
it wont hurt, especially if you`ve seen a bit of movement,

Morning,
Just woke up to here the sound of pipping coming from two of the eggs so hopefully i should be seeing some of the hatch today. Probably what you said Andoy that te hatch is affected due to my thermstat. Thanks for the advice guys
