change the world

Post by andoy on Wed Jul 16, 2008 3:58 pm

The news is full of doom and gloom: stagflation, fuel prices out of control and global warming/cooling... end of the world!

Just thought I'd start a humorous tongue-in-cheek thread about ways to save the world. If you had a magic wand, a super power, political influence or become a super genius... what would you do?

Let me start by saying what I'd do:-

  • I'd create an invention that converts poo into fuel.
  • hook up the treadmills, bikes, etc in gyms to supply the national grid and give member credits for the number of kilowatts generated.
  • make people who litter sweep the streets.
  • hook politicians up to b#ll sh^t detectors that gives them an electric shock every time they come up with sign01
  • Tell the IOC we changed our minds and want the 2012 olympics to go to Paris Rolling Eyes and have a little fun fair in Hyde park for charity instead.

Hi Andy,

I'll start on this with a

I thought they already turn poo into fuel?, Methane gas comes from poo I think it was already invented by Tom Good from the good life.

I really think you may have something with the gyms, a Local Tesco's have recently got two massive wind turbines in the car park now to lower the electric bills.

It's not some much the litter here, it's the bubble gum, the Steets are covered in the stuff, and what really gets me is the nice people that use lil pink or black bags to pick up their doggy mess Smile ...... only to throw it elsewhere!! (What is the point?!!!!!)

Electric shock treatment for MP's Hey?, they'll be dead in an hour, lol.

What I would really like see see are little windmill turbines on each house, they all have Tv arials, so I don't see why not. Also I would like to see less packaging in supermarkets, and packets that are made for 1/2 people instead of a family of 15! I don't want to be eating sausages for a week!

I can see this thread becoming funny and daft at the same time, Good idea Andy.

Derek.

I heard on the radio that some people stick the lil bags on railing or hang them on trees, creating a sort of "installation art"... Yuk! affraid

I change my mind, litter bugs should be made to eat their rubbish or thrown in jail. That'll teach them! ROFLMAO

Re: change the world

Post by Nils on Thu Jul 17, 2008 11:53 am

Hi Andy and co.,

Thanks for creating this thread as I needed a laugh lol

In Portugal (the part where we come from) there is doggy poo bins on almost every corner and a poor sod doing the poo collecting every day! I still frown at the thought of it.

Also the supermarkets dont provide bags and if you want one you have to pay. I think the UK should start that - mind you Lidl do it already...

I think politicians/council heads/etc should be placed in personal circumstances of what some people go through everyday and then think about the laws and regulations they come up with.

I loathe people that also park in disabled / children bays without being either... ggrrrrrr

lol - that enough now or I be rambling the whole day and I got to finish my 'shelf like quail houses' - kindly suggested from Derek....

I don't currently have a car myself, but I'm with you on the disabled / parents with kids parking spots. It's just a general lack of consideration for other people using these inappropriately.

Ok, if I were Emperor I would section off these spaces so they would have a barrier that can be accessed via a universally recognised smart card to operate all barriers for disabled parking spaces (and could be extended to other facilities also). Parents with young children would get a similar arrangement but their smart cards would expire automatically after a period (say 2 years) and they need to reapply.

As for plastic bags, apparently someone has invented a way of converting them and other plastics to diesel. So a car run on plastic waste would be pretty cool. Problem is getting people to recycle them. Aluminum is cheaper to recycle than produce from fresh material, but not nearly enough of it gets recycled.

Wow Lol

Honestly, Possibly incoroporate some sort of hamster wheel inside tires. If you had some sort of large rat or hamster that you could get to run inside the tires to make them move maybe? That way no gas prices. Only feed and water prices.
