How can I encourage my quail to lay ?
I bought 6 female quail to join the 2 male quail I hatched a couple of months ago. When I bougt the females I was assured they were old enough to lay and were likely laying already. They definitely look mature. We go them about 10days ago but no sign of any eggs yet.
I'm feeding them on layers pellets, plenty of water and a little pot of grit available.
I'm keeping them in a hutch with plants and pots to hide in, they have plenty of space.
Is there anything else I should be doing it encourage them to lay ?
Thanks

First question, are you sure they're female? We've seen lots of people be sold "hens" who aren't.
Re: How can I encourage my quail to lay ?
Good point however I am convinced they are female.
I bought them from a reputable dealer that was recommended on this forum. Also they don't act in the same way as my 2 males - who display aggression towards each other but not the newcomers..

If they are definitely female then it might take them a few weeks to settle in.

Oh I mis-read that as you bought them a couple of months ago, not 10 days! Serves me right for speed reeding.
Like Harrie says they probably just need some time to settle in, i've only bought two adult hens and one took 3 weeks to start laying, no need to worry yet.
