Floor Modification
I got some 1/2 X 1/2 inch plastic coated fence wire, removed the bottom of the cage by using pliers to pry open the attachment, and used "quick clips" to attach the new floor. Then, I reassembled the cage. Not an easy project. I have 4 birds in the top and 4 in teh bottom. I am growing grass "sod" to place in each cage so they can dust bathe.
Next Year
Someone on the forum (I can't remember who) posted this web site for building a set up http://www.quailcage.20m.com/
This will be next spring's project. I am not going to hatch any eggs until then. I think I may have 5 males and 3 females. But I dont' think I will breed from this bunch. I have 4 in each of the two cages and they all seem to be getting along with each other so far. I've been getting a lot of crowing from the bottom bunch. I'll keep my fingers crossed that they continue to be friendly with each other as I don't want to really buy any more cages right now. Each cage is 30 inches long by 18 inches deep by 18 inches high with 4 quail in each cage.

Re: My quail cage
Hi QTpie,
Im building that structure at the moment and will let you know how I get on however I am not utilising both sides of the structure as I
want to screw it into the back of the shed.
Im also not using their type of feeders or drinkers as this will make a mess of the shed floor.
Will keep you updated.

Thanks Keep Me Posted
I may be building sooner than I thought! The "downstairs bunch" had a war this morning with one of them getting a little injury. "Bert" has been banished to a box by himself as he was the perpetrator and was picking a fight with all 3 of them in that cage.
All seems to be quiet in the cage now, but Burt is crowing like crazy in his solitary confinement. They are all going to be six weeks old tomorrow and tuesday (5 tomorrow and 3 Tuesday). I'm hoping things will settle down once everyone grows up a bit. Then I will try to reintroduce him at some point. Otherwise I will have to build him a cage.

My Grass Has Finally Grown
My grass was finally grown enough to put some in the cages. Here is a picture of the little gals and fella (the range Jimmi is a boy) enjoying the sod.
