Types & Sexes?
Hello! I'm new to the world of Quails and i'm wondering if someone could help me out?
Please could someone tell me the type and sexes of these?
Does anyone know how long it will take them to start laying again after they have been moved roughly? i heard they might stop laying at this time of year as the days are getting shorter?
Thanks again to everyone on this forum! it has really helped me to learn about Quails and help me to decide to get them.

Hi Purplecat

You have 2 normal wild type Japanese quail hens, 1 Golden Jap Hen, but your whites will need to be vent sexed, you'll find useful pictures & tips ..... HERE
They may go off lay for a few days while they settle in, but if given 16 hours of daily light they will soon start again.
Enjoy your new quail

Re: Types & Sexes?
thanks for all your help, really fun little birds.
They are kept in a 2 layer large hutch and we have adapted the bottom so that both sides are open too. They tend to all sleep in this bottom part of the hutch and one upstairs. when it gets cold will they automatically move into the sleeping area at night? (fully stocked with hay) or do i need to move them in there when it starts getting colder?
