I've still got to paint it. I've put plastic 150mm up on each door so the shaving won't come out, i hear that can be a bit of a pain.

It's 1100mm by 600mm so i think i will get 10 on each level, what do you think?

Yeah you should do. I had 5 in just smaller than that until the cocks started fighting, but after I add more hens in they'll be moving to their outdoor home that is that size!

The bottom two are 400mm high and the top one is about 600mm high, is that high enough do you think?

Mine all came out at around 400mm - I was greedy and wanted four tiers!! They actually love the bottom hutch as I think they feel all safe hidden away down there. I think Ironsun said that many use cages only 11/12" high. Once they go in and settle they don't boink much.

Put some play things in as I have only 4 in a 3.5' x 2' and the males did bash each other but since I've kitted it out with play stuff they've been okay.

Good tip, i saw you guys talking about that the other day. I did build a house at the bottom but didn't see much point in it as only my little daughter would be able to see in and i would be on my hands and knees cleaning them out. I could always but a bottom shelf and doors in when i run out of room.!!

My indoor hutches they're in now are about 45cm high. They rarely boink, sometimes when i'm putting fresh food in they jump up.
