Just confirm for me before I go ahead please
I will have a hutch similar to this one http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=220189028789&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=012
Would this be ok? I was planning to hemcore the run and put a clear cover over it. I don't want to move onto the next part of my planning if its wrong. If it is ok how many birds?

I have similar waiting for my quail, my run is half the size though. I'm using corrugated plastic to cover the top of the run, and on the bit directly under the hutch there are wooden panels to cut out draughts.

Hi Bronze,
I would think you'd be able to keep a male and 5 females in a cage/run of that size, maybe another female?
Is there a ramp of some sort leading from the top hutch to the bottom? If there is, I would block the bottom hutch's front up, leaving a grap so birds go in/out, so there is no draught's going up from bottom hutch to the top, via ramp hole.
Derek.

Is that 6 including the 6 foot of run? I'm sure other people keep that amount in much smaller spaces. Though I dont want to stock to maximum density as theyre going to be for use not not pets I want to make the most of the space. I see what you mean about the draft so I think Ill board over the left hand door and keep it shut so that they have to do a sort of vertical slalem to get upstairs. I hope to shut them in at night when its cold.
