Mail-order Live Quail? Empty Mail-order Live Quail?

Post by Blackjack Tue Feb 19, 2008 1:27 am

Well can you order live quail via the postal system?

If you watch television programmes such as Airport you see various animals and birds being sent all over the world by courier.

Can live quail be boxed up and delivered within Britain. It would certainly help to get exactly the right ratio of males/females that you want rather than relying on the luck of incubation.

Does anyone know a supplier or is it a no brainer?

If you don’t ask you will never know.

I think maybe it could only be done via a specialist 'animal' courier service and the cost would probably no be viable.

In the USA I know you can buy day old chicks and have them delivered to your door the next day. (someone who reads my website bought them that way last year. Needless to say she had a high fatality rate).

Hi Ya

I got my Bobwhites taken up from High Wycombe by courier, he couldn't take them all the way to Aberdeen so I met him in Glasgow for the sum £150 - Seriously considering going in to business for myself as he must have made a fortune, picking up and dropping of birds along the motorway

Hi Jack,

Having birds brought into the UK requires mountains of paperwork, not to mention vet bills too.Once in the UK, they need to be transported by special livestock couriers and again the cost is very high.
I'm not sure on the law regarding bring livestock in the UK from Europe, but I know you can bring eggs in for hatching, but there is some paperwork to do with that too.

Derek.

Mail-order Live Quail? Empty Re: Mail-order Live Quail?

Hi, like others have said I think there are specialist poultry/animal couriers. I suppose it depends on how many you're buying and how far the journey is.

Some people who sell poultry use specialist couriers, you could try contacting them, I think one lot is perfect poultry but I could be wrong!!

On some of the other poultry forums people will often make arrangements for meeting at shows with the birds.

Hope I have been of some help!

I looked into this a few years ago when I first started keeping chickens and couldn't find any near me but the specialist services were very expensive
