Brilliant Set up
Love the idea of adding extension to the chook housing, I've got similar housing for my bobwhites and now know my next project

Wow what a fantastic garden - so huge. I see you have the same little aviaries as me - but mine I am using for the quail. What a great idea extending them - very clever of you.
I could kick myself as I got rid of a perfectly good shed on Freecycle - which I could have used for the quail! It was in the wrong place!
Nice to be a handy man. You have done a fabulous job of it all

Re: Quail Addict alert! My Set up
Totally off the subject question, but i noticed you have greenery in with your quails, what is it? I would like mine to have some in their pens but i don't know what you can/can't use.
Thanks

In other photos on this site I noticed they use conifer so that is what I have been using too. It has a lovely fresh pine smell and lasts for ages without any leaf drop - the quails seem to love it too. Hiding under it - sitting on it.

Re: Quail Addict alert! My Set up
I have a mixtue in the shed with the quail, on the floor is wood chip and wood shavings leafs, some twigs and sticks. I have also put in some Conifer and Fern cut straight from my garden, but fern does grow at the side of the roads in some places, not sure if it protected tho, all i have triad to do is give them a wood land theme as it is as close as i can get to nateral habitat.
They love it in there and i get 7 eggs every day thats one each, per day so far! so they must like it a bit

Re: Quail Addict alert! My Set up
Your quail homes are very impressive and i really envy you. I have a double bunny hutch an outside run and hutch and various little hutches and cat boxes for others, nothing half so super as yours, one day when i win the lottery though!!!
Thanks i am going to try connifer and fern as i have tons of both in my garden, i have just put loads of bits of old wood in the outside pen which they seem to be enjoying as they keep finding woodpigs in them. Mind you they are all horrified by worms, you should hear the noise when one dares to get in with them
Hugs and green envious sparkles
