Shed Pens

Post by Suz on Mon Mar 10, 2008 3:38 pm

I moved my oldest youngster out to the shed this weekend, they seem to enjoy having more space and things to scramble over/under after being in brooders for the last 5-6weeks Smile

Added 8 females to an older group that was male heavy -

Some of my silvers with the pure whites -

and finaly the mixed Range & Tux youngsters -

I never knew you could add birds to an established flock!

How many do you have altogether now Suz

How many years have you been hatching them. You have some amazing colours.

LOL Yeah I read that too, someone forgot to tell mine that they shouldn't mix. I not advocating this practise, but I've done it successfully with CPQ, Jap's & bobwhites.

I wouldn't like to say how many I've got, as my hubby might just read this Smile, but I had to register with DEFRA last year because my numbers were growing.

I'm really pleased with my colours, just wish I'd started experimenting sooner, but I'm hoping to start selling F2 silvers & chocolates on eBay in the next couple of weeks.

Defra registering is only 50 birds Razz Thats hardly extreme!

I've also found adding hens to existing groups works fine, better than the males going to far with the few they have.

no not extreme, but I registered in Aug/Sept last year and been hatching regularly since. I've hatched and reared over 100 quail so far this year Smile
