Quail for Randommoose
Here are some pics of the "babies" that are going to Randommoose on Saturday morning!

I'm not impressed with being held like this!

Hide before she gets the rest of us.

They're only 6 weeks old! Found this in there last night.

Food!!!

Mr Quail debating whether to leap.

Miss Quail with a white patch on her belly
Hope you like them Susan!

Re: Quail for Randommoose
Aww I'm sure she will love them.
Is that the last of your babies gone now?
I hope mine haven't layed yet, I've left my housemate feeding them for 3 days while I went to my friends house and if I miss their first egg I will be gutted

Re: Quail for Randommoose
Hi,
Thanks for the quail! They have been amusing me today. I have had three eggs from them too so will have to taste quail egg for the first time tomorrow...
The females are very tame, I don't think the male has got used to me yet. They have all been having fun exploring various places today.
I got 6 more hens today so it has been quite a poultry-filled day!

Re: Quail for Randommoose
Yes apologies for the lack of male tameness - I don't handle them after 4 weeks old as I get too attached, and I don't know which will end up as my dinner! He'll settle down in no time though!

Re: Quail for Randommoose
The quail have names! Hee hee hee...
Quentin - the male - my mother's choice of name.
The females:
Aka (red)
Kiiro (yellow)
Midori (green)
Murasaki (purple)
They each have a leg ring of the same colour as their name. Woo I have had lots of amusement deciding what to call them and in the end decided, as they are Japanese quail, to go with Japanese names. Well, except for Quentin - my mother said I could have quail at home provided one was called Quentin...
