Re: My first chicks
How do you fix the legs with masking tape? and how long does it normally take?

Re: My first chicks
its easy. if they have curled feet cut a tiny square of tape and straighten the foot out and stick it to the bottom then stick another peice on top.dont press to hard. they look like little shoes. splayed legs cut a longish piece of tape, afew mm thick then rap it around one leg and then round the other with a gap in between like hand cuffs. it only takes about 4 hours, its very quick. i'll post some pics for you.Someone else on here suggested it and its worked for me.

Re: My first chicks
lovely little chick if that still doesnt help remove the flooring of your incubator and try some multi grip or like a lap- tray matting for tables and eating. ive only ever had 1 curled toes and the rest have always been fine.

Re: My first chicks
Depends how much time you got. my one fell about for hours so i kept picking it up and putting it up right.just see how it goes.still not sure my little one will survive even though hes eating and drinking he keeps rolling over. good luck.

Re: My first chicks
Yes its a homemade incubator. made a plywood box then lined it with bubble wrap and card box with a sheet of perspex on the top. theres a 60 watt bulb over the incubator. was ok untill the 4th one hatched now lost temp in it but cant understand why.

Re: My first chicks
my chick with the bent neck died about an hour ago. he seemed to be really strong and active this morning, went out to the shop and when i came back he was quite weak and cold so i made the box a bit smaller to try and warm the box up. went for tea came back and he was laid on his side dead. Not sure if he was eating or not so he could have died because i warmed him up without any food in him or he could have given up.
The other three are still doing fine cant believe how quick they've grown in 4 days.
