Nothing like chasing an escaped bob
My new house arrived today, to replace my 4x4 run and nesting box. On top of the run sits a 4ft hutch with 2 japs and a bob (the bob was beaten up by his bob buddies, so was relegated to a hutch). I bought the hutch cheap, and it needed a new roof, which I added, but didn't screw down to leave it easier to clean out. Thinking the lid was bound to come off when we moved it I decided i'd grab Bob Monkhouse and put him indoors while we were fiddling round...needless to say he escaped, shot into the air and flew off.
Luckily he landed in the alleyway (passing over 4 gardens), so after a bit of chasing him up and down we got him cornered under a bush so he couldn't fly out, managed to throw a t-shirt over him and bring him back safely.
Japs are so much easier, shame bobs are so pretty

Bobs are a nightmare to catch. You did well Emma. I've had to spend hours trying to catch escapee chicks. Thankfully none of the adults have done the great escape thing yet

Re: Nothing like chasing an escaped bob
oh no, I spoke too soon!!!
I was planning to hose down the aviary, so I thought I'd catch all my Bobs and put them out of the way temporarily. One male Bob managed to escape while I was handling him and flew straight out into neighbour's garden. I've since heard him calling out from another garden. I hope he comes back home and I hope he doesn't get eaten by the cats

I hope he comes back. Before I got the bobs from Philip one had gone missing for a week, so hopefully you'll be in luck!
