i had 58 eggs in there in total, i think i posted somewhere that i had 88, that was a mis type.
there are still more to come, .......... i hope not to many more lol

i'll try and get some pics once they are in the brooder.
i'm going to separate them, as this is my first experiance of hatching quail, so i hope i don't kill them or anything, by separating them, i feel i'll have more chance of a good rearing rate?
anyway, i'll probably be sat in the shed with them for a few hours..... days.. nights lol

well, hatching over......
out of 58 eggs, i managed to hatch 45, so i think that's quite an acceptable hatch rate. Very Happy

Hi Keef,

A very good hatch you got there. (77.5%).
Are threse eggs from your own stocks or bought in?

they are from my own stock Derek, most of the hens are only 10 weeks old, the cocks are a couple of weeks older, so all in all, i think a good rate, it can only improve.
i'm gonna put the next batch in, in about five weeks.
the eggs i had from you are going in this evening, i'm sterilising my inc at the moment.
i'll be over run with chicks come xmas lol.
at least it keeps me very busy.

keef

how do you work out the % rate... do you divide hatch x eggs?

Hi,

The fertility of eggs is worked out by

Number of fertile eggs divided by the number of eggs set X 100 = % fertility.

The hatcherbility is worked out by

Number of chicks divided by the number of eggs set X 100 = % Hatcherbility.

Derek.
