Is this suitable?

Hi all, I was just wondering if you think this: http://www.petspantry.tv/acatalog/plastic-rabbit-hutch.html Would be suitable for keeping quail in? If so, how many?

Should be ok, maybe 2-4 quail.

Hi,

The size of cage shown in that link, would allow you 5 birds, each having just over 1sq foot of space each. You could keep an all female group, or one male and upto four females.

I'm not that keen on the idea of the cage being plastic, I've got worries if there is not enough shavings/cut straw, that the birds may slip and injure themselves.

If you were to get this type of cage, how would the feed and water be given?. If you put them inside your cage, you'll be decreasing the floor area and you'll have to keep less birds.

Noticed in your other post that you wanted to keep Californian Quail in which case this hutch would be no use as they need to roost. If its Jap's you intend to keep in a hutch then search around, you get super 2-storey wooden hutches online for the same sort of price.

I wouldn't keep Californian quial in that! I was thinking more of a breeding pen for Japanese. For what it is, its a bit pricy...

I bought that hutch second hand along with a nice big run. I've not moved my birds outside yet though. Its way overpriced new, for that money you can get one of those hutch/run combo things.

agree with whats been said you can pick up bigger better hutchs cages for that price altho good website if you click on the hutchs bits they all turn round and the doors open so you can see inside them
