Sorry for being a muppet BUT...
Whats the difference between the japs and the italian's?
And before you say it "the italian make better cars"
The profiles look the same are there two names for the same bird? or is it just colouring?
:?: :?:

Hi,
pmpl@kermit&misspiggymuppets.comic
Until the whole world gets together, there is always someone who is going to ask the same question, your not the first, and you'll certainly not be the last.
Over the next few months, I'm making a web site (with a lot of help from my son and members of this forum), in one section, there is going to be a gallery of different varities of the japanese quail, Coturnix japonica and I'm only going to call them by what they are most commonly know in the Uk, as the American's seem to have lots of different names for both the species and the colours!
So if anyone has any photo's of any variety they can let me use, or anything quail related, Housing, food types, etc, I will be greatfull.
Derek.

Re: Sorry for being a muppet BUT...
It confused me when I was looking at pics and thought "these look identical" since the other quail species are different shapes
Re: Sorry for being a muppet BUT...
Oh how I wish we americans could settle down and name things properly. Its so confusing, which is which? Xld1, jumbo, etc. Brown coturnix could mean a 6-7 oz bird or a 12-16 oz bird? Every egg order is a gamble. I just want a jap that doesnt get any bigger than 6oz, how do I find that? And why is it so hard to find what I consider to be the "normal" size coturnix japonica? Ed

I guess it must be human nature to try to "rebrand" things constantly to try to make them sound special
