cpqs

can cpqs be sexed the same way as japs like by vent sexing them and if so what age also will foam appear the same as japs

i should imagine the vent test will work with CPQ,
i'm not quite sure at what age though.
is it the white, pied or blue face you are trying to sex?
if not, you should be able to sex them at about 3 - 4 weeks old, the boys have a white bib, (mask), the girls don't.

as a second thought, you could try the meal worm test, i wouldn't reccomend this on chicks under 5 weeks of age though, the boys won't eat them, but will pick them up and chirp for th hen to take it off him. i read somewhere, that mealworms shouldn't be fed to young chicks.

yeah that helps and its the white pied and blue faced also what age they start laying at av search but its much better to hear it from people that breed them

CPQ can be vent sexed but its not nearly as obvious as with the japs. it also take CPQ's much longer to mature (about 14 weeks) so the meal-worm test & vent sexing wouldn't work until they are sexually mature so no use for sexing chicks - (meal-worm test doesn't always work either, I've got greedy boys who guts down the worms )

Adult male CPQ also have a different call to the hens - its to difficult to describe, but it kinda reminds me of strong wind/gale & and they also do a funny dance thing - puffing out their chests & stamping their feet.

Hen CPQ should start to lay between 14-16 weeks depending on lighting & housing conditions.
