Fertility Check
I'm so excited 6 out my 8 Bobwhite eggs are fertile Just wish they'ld start laying again after their move.

Well done. (Excuse a silly question from a beginner) does that mean you hatched out the eggs to check their fertility or is there another way of checking

I stick them in the incubator then candle the eggs to see if their fertile and also let them hatch out, then work out fertility & hatch percentage.
Until recently I believed that you could tell by looking at the blastoderm (the tiny disc on the eggs yolk) but have been told that this disc is also present on eggs from battery hens so feel its more reliable to incubate the eggs.
