newly hatched mini silver Appleyard

To my surprise and a full 3 days ahead of schedule my little ducks are hatching. This is the 1st one out.

All 3 eggs hatched. Interestingly, they are all different shades. The blond (Boris) hatched 12 hours ahead of the other 2. The one on the left (Ken) is the darkest and the one in the middle (Paddick) is greyish.

My partner was having a new bathroom suite fitted, so once the bath was plumbed I just had to let the ducks play...



Boris (middle) started off the biggest, but he is now the runt of the clutch. Padduck (silver/light brown in the forground) is growing like a weed, while Ken in the back is somewhere in between.

maybe boris is the only one who know`s he`s a miniature?

I have a suspicion that Boris actually a call duck. True to his larger counter part (our new Mayor)... all gob!

it's been more than 2 weeks and I've hatched another batch of mini
Appleyards from another source (to give me unrelated stock). Look at
the difference in size. Only 2 weeks difference in their age.

yeah my partner has fallen in love with the 3 London mayor candidates; Ken, Padduck and Boris (we're renaming Boris to Doris because we think she is a girl). The ducks are a lot more mucky than the quails, but he say he hardly notices. Also he says that when quails hatch the smell is much more offensive than duck hatch.
