chinese painted quail..........will a black chick stay black

i`ve just hatched some chinese painted quails, and quite a few have hatched pure black.

does anyone know what colour they will be as adults?

sorry to sound a bit thick, but i`m used to japs!

mmm.... no easy answer to that one. If the eggs included red-breasts might also contain the vadar mutation which stay black as adults, but more than likely they will turn dark brown - the CPQ equivalent of the Jap's range.

will have to wait and see then, some are totally black, some have a bit o`yellow aroung their beaks
