Wire Spacing
I've just seen an indoor rabbit cage that I'm think of getting but I was wondering if the quails might get their heads trapped between the bars, they are 1 inch high and alot wider... erm I'm not good at explaing things so heres the cage

(n.b I'm using different water and food bottles and its staying indoors)
Its just for the two hens I'm getting, does it look ok?

Re: Wire Spacing
That's perfect for a couple of hens ( I use similar as brooders/temp housing) ... I personally wouldn't change the water bottle they soon learn how to use them just put a small dish of water under the bottle for a few day.
Re: Wire Spacing
Hiya Jen, i use one of these indoor hutches for my female, and to date havn't had anything go wrong with it, with 1" spacing i wouldnt think it would allow a quail to trap its head, as long as theres no cats around when a quail decides to have a peak out i would say its fine

Great thanks you two!
I'm not getting it from this site so mine won't come with the bottle etc, but its alot cheaper
Can't wait to finally get them.
Decided I will do my dissertation on them so should be interesting!

Re: Wire Spacing
I've got 1" spacing on my outdoor hutches and their heads poke through fine without getting stuck (although the bars are vertical).

Re: Wire Spacing
Thats a good idea keef!
I will do that if I think they look like they might get stuck, I've got a load of wire mesh lying around away
