My quailies settling in Empty My quailies settling in

Post by Jen88 Thu Jul 24, 2008 7:36 pm

My two hens are loving their new home, and at the moment they are testing how far they can make the woodshavings fly around my room! Lol
Here are some photos of them, but I've realised that I'm be the worst quail photographer ever as I only get the cage bars or their bums.

My sister's just come up with a name for the big one, so I now have Belle and Rose, like the Disney princess lol.
Belle is the one in the first picture and those are Rose's legs in the second picture
Very Happy

My first girl is called Rose Very Happy Looks like a nice setup for them, I hope they don't destroy the grass as quickly as their parents do!

I love the little grass patch. What a clever idea! I hope you don't mind if I borrow it. I'm just starting out myself and the cages I have aren't too interesting for my little group.

Lol go for it! They are so cute to watch when they wade through it when its still long and fresh.
Emma you are right, doesn't last long but I think my budgies were more distructive!
Is it alright for them to have that much green? Or should I slowly introduce it?
Btw Emma was Rose related to these two? Because my quail will be carrying on the family name! hehe Laughing

Yeah Rose is going to either be a grandparent or a great aunt to those two Smile

They should be fine with the greens, i've not noticed mine have a problem when they get their first big batch.

Yay, I'm soo proud of my little babies as they have FINALLY layed me their first egg Very Happy
I was getting very worried as they are the same ages as the ones Emma gave Randommoose and they have been laying for like a week now :S
And on Thursday I had no choice but to take them on a 2 hour car drive to my mums house as shes gone away and I have to feed our dog and cat, so I had got used to the idea that they wouldn't lay for another week or so due to stress.
But I guess my spoiling them with my mums vegs have paid off lol.
Here it is, My quailies settling in Th_DSC002081
(I've got a feeling Rose laid it as shes the biggest and has been eating and drinking a lot more today than usual)

Thanks Very Happy
They are both laying eggs now , so proud of them!
They seem so much tamer now too, they always run to the front and talk to me when I come in the room, probably looking for food but I like to think its because they missed me lol.
I want to hatch some now Rolling Eyes

I'd love to hatch them but as Emma says I only have hens plus I don't have any space for them at the moment Sad
I might make myself an incubator though just incase lol
