How to create Grey/Silver Coturnix...
I was just wondering if someone could tell me if it would be possible to somehow get a bird with some grey/silver in it from these colors....cross mating or something.

British Rang/Brown
I would really appreciated any insight into the Smokey/Grey birds.
Thanks!

Hi,
As I've said before, all the newer varieties have come from a mutation grey bird found in a group of birds in Belgium.
You can not re-create mutations.
There are lots of newer varieties about now, there are many photo's on this forum and at another website....

Re: How to create Grey/Silver Coturnix...
hi Sam,
Yup, I think Derek is right. I do know a bit about genetics and I don't think any of the above combinations will produce silver/grey. Gold and Range are completely dominant factors, so they do not dilute or produce intermediaries (incomplete dominance). I don't know how silver breeds, but I'm hoping to obtain some once my incubator is working again.

Thanks guys....I was hoping maybe crossing one of these colors would give me some gray feathers on a bird lol...even 1 grey feather....But sadly looks like it wont happen...and there arent any Silver/Grey Coturnix in the States for some reason...But we do have a RAINBOW of bobwhite and ringneck pheasant lol.
Thanks!
Thanks!
