impulse Silkies
I had a moment of madness. I received a £10 voucher from eBay for spending so much on their very addictive site. Unfortunately I received it a week after I did a big shop on eBay. So I didn't know what to do with it, but thought... I'd better spend it or loose it!
So I bought some bantam gold Silkie eggs I've now put them in my incubator, but I'm panicing now. If they hatch, I'm not sure if I'll have room for them amongst my quail.
p.s. eBay have now given me a 15% off voucher for up to £100 to use by 2 Sep. The voucher is non transferable, but if anyone has any ideas on how to put it to good use. I'm open to suggestions.

Re: impulse Silkies
I don't know where to sell them around here. I don't know anyone near here that keeps chooks. Will pet shops take them? and at what age? I presume they'll have to be off the heat.
I might just give them to jolly Joy or Nino if they'll take them. At least they'll have a good home.

Re: impulse Silkies
im always available for freebies lol jokes, you could probably buy a small run and hutch for them, but pet shops will take them at chicks i think over a week old no younger and they normally sell at a good price aswell the pet shops sells them at about £15 each but you have to sell them for a bout £10 each, hope this helps.

Re: impulse Silkies
put them on practical poultry forum or pekinbantams forum someone will have them from there. Personally I wouldn't go to a pet shop with chickens.

Re: impulse Silkies
They are tiny!!! They are about a third the size of normal eggs. The seller wrapped them in quite a lot of tissue to fit a normal egg box.s25ale wrote:think of those nice big eggs.
Anyway, I've got 3 weeks before they hatch to decide what to do with them. Meanwhile another auction I've bid on earlier has given me a 2nd chance offer! Double trouble. and Suz has got me looking at coops for them!
Re: impulse Silkies
ok, looking at potential coops for Silkies. Would this be suitable ?

p.s. this is turning out to be an expensive £10 voucher

Re: impulse Silkies
lol i would love a hutch like that but i would also love tonnes of money lol, the postage made me laugh lol £3 but i geuss the cost makes up for it, i think you might have to start collecting them £10 off vouchers lol
Re: impulse Silkies
well there were a few on there for 99p, but £28 postage. So I'm keeping an eye out for those at the moment and see if I can get if for a lot less than the "buy it now" price, plus I've got a 15% off voucher Damn these eBay people are clever, they got me hooked!
Re: impulse Silkies

I'm still undecided on whether to keep them Sally, but I've already got a list of potential homes for them
