hope you manage to sort out your incy. I know how frustrating it is to have your incy fail. Mine failed a day before the hatch. Day 27 of incubating some duck eggs. Surprisingly I still managed to get one little chocolate runner duck.

Clean off any eggs that aren't broken with egg disinfectant and keep them separate from other eggs that do arrive. You can incubate them all together when your incy is up and running again.

hi we felt like that when all our japs fell ill and died after I brought medication and tryed every thing we could think of.
stilll up setting when we think about them and not knowing what the hell
was wrong. we have a male now who do't look well.
but when we see our chicks we have managed to raise its all worth it.
so just stick at it as its all a learning curve .(thats what we tell our selfs).
good luck .rete

just another thought if you have a cracked egg thats not too bad and its only the shell, . you can dip it in wax
I did this on one of mine and it hatched . we have acute chick .

that's a good tip Rete, didn't think that would work for quails.

I've read of using nail varnish on slightly cracked eggs, but thought that would only work for larger eggs. I accidentally cracked a duck egg while candling a few days before it was due to hatch and used this technique. It worked for me.

Nail varnish and Wax do work on quail eggs depending the severity of the crack, but I think it depends on how quickly you repair the eggs (before bacteria can enter) on the success of the repair.

To be honest I only repair eggs that I've accidentally/clumsily broken well into incubation.

Thank you all so much, for the encouragement and advice. It really made me feel better, tho I wish I had known the wax/nail polish tip yesterday! And incy is behaving like an angel at the moment, a fish tank thermometer verified that my digital thermometer is indeed accurate and therefore incy is too.

I'm so excited! I will have aprox 40 eggs in total, 3 different colors, and possibly 3 different sizes from small to medium. The problems with incy' have been solved, and it's never run better. There will be some problems unless I make a hatcher, as the third batch goes in a week after the other two and I'm not exactly sure if the second will arrive tomorrow or not. Any ideas on a hatcher on the cheap? Think I could use an aquarium? Any ideas will be helpful. Ed
