Have you ever tried chasing a range quail? All around 1.5 acres of paddocks? Which have 1-2ft long grass? At dusk? It is like magic - here is a description of the quail magic:

Ooh quail flying, yep, saw where it landed *walk over* *search* hmmmm, quail has magically disappeared (from where both my brother and I saw it land). *search more*
5 minutes later
Quail flies up from just where I was about to put my foot.

Repeat 5 times.

You will be happy to know I caught it. It is amazing how they can camoflage themselves and deceive the eye. I have been catching escaped animals and birds all my life but never had anything with such powerful disappearing magic!

The door of their run swung open while I was in it and, though I didn't notice her escape, my brother saw her a few minutes later. Tis a pity quails don't tame like hens do! I'm glad I got her back though as I thought I would have lost her permanently.

Anyway, after all that adventure I am ready for a rest!

I'm glad you got her back.
I'm too scared to put my quails out in the garden incase they escape but I kinda think they would come back if I had some mealworms...
