Mika the Silkie Chick

Lil' Chook is now 3 and a half weeks old and has finally been given a name that everybody agrees on - Mika. Thought I'd post some pictures since I had the camera out - Is he meant to look so scruffy???

I think s/he looks lovely - not at all scruffy. How come you don't get poops on your keyboard???

because he did it on my knee before I took the pictures - it was huge and stank - the quail chicks often leave little parcels on the keys, so I've always got the babywipes at hand.

yeah - he was the only one that catched - 4 eggs were infertile, 1 was early DIS.

are you going to get him a friend to keep him company (or should I make that her, we hope)

Posting this just because I thought it was cute - Mika was sitting on my knee and kept nodding off, would half wake up, look around before nodding off again - It reminded me of when my gran would fall asleep in front of the telly, she would get most indignant if anyone noticed her

Ah - that's really cute. Cheered me up - I'm feeling a bit fed up today. (I'll go for a beach walk that always sorts it)

How come you don't get covered in poop?? I'd be changing all the time if I put one of my chooks on me knee!

Oh I'm sorry your feeling fed up Harrie - I was like that yesterday, for no real reason and watching the X Factor made it worse

I think with having the parrots, you lean to clock the pre-poop signs, the wee wiggle of the bum. the tail feather nod and the half step backwards are usually indications that your going to dumped upon, so I keep a newspaper on the floor by my feet and kitchen towel & baby wipes on hand when ever the birds are out.

Thanks. I've been for a walk and feel better now and the base is on it's way for my shed so that's something to look forward to!!!
