ringing quails
does anyone else ring all there birds
i have only so i no what cocks and hens are what age as they will be mixed av got my green they where hatched 20/9/07 they from martins eggs then my yellow lot they where my first hatch from derek they where the 13/10/07 very very friendly and eat any greens given then the newest ones will be purples born 6/11/07 then al have my reds that should be my xmas babys if everything gos well also all males have a blue ring on to so they where 2 rings hens have 1

I am a compulsive ringer of birds Adam so yes my lot have been done! just blue on boys on this lot but it is very handy if got mixed age sets of birds. I do all my serama chicken chicks different colours depending on when hatched else I'd never remember.

kl when i put the rings on i unwind them so when they go on there lose and fit fine

Yes, I ring mine birds too. Having different strains of birds, they need to be idenified so not to inbreed.I generally only ring the males, the females I use are all "Sisters" from one other flock.The size of rings I use are 6.4mm and are available from

It was the 5.5 I bought - after reading they were the right size for quails...then my quail were all fat
