Rabbit hutch for housing?
How do you feel about housing Japs or Italians in rabbit hutches? I really like the look of this hutch: http://www.yorkshirepetshop.co.uk/rabbitshack-deluxe-hutch-with-underrun-new-p-1223.html
as it has an underrun but sits off the floor so no damp grass! Would it be suitable for 6 birds (1 male and 5 females?)

Re: Rabbit hutch for housing?
Hi,
This looks like an idea cage to keep 6 quails in, I would use both the hopper type drinker and feeders in this cage, they can be easily bought from ebay, or local farm shops.
I would use shavings for a floor covering, as this can be brushed out every couple of days to keep clean.
Do you have any quails at the moment?
Derek.

Hi Derek
No I have never had quail before, these would be my first lot. Still working on my parents since I still live at home so their rules and such but I hope they decide to go with it.

Re: Rabbit hutch for housing?
I too am new to this and presently my chicks are pampered pets, inside until after Christmas, when I hope to be able to sex them and then sort out a group into a double tier rabbit hutch. Yours looks a fantastic set up, do you recommend that adult Quail have a lamp in their outdoor housing. I was thinking of keeping them in the shed whilst cold then moving to the patio with access to grass and cover via an old run. What do you think?

Re: Rabbit hutch for housing?
Thanks Glen,
I cannot have electricity in the shed so I guess
I will have to wait till spring for some eggs. I will keep them inside for a bit longer until it is warmer.

Re: Rabbit hutch for housing?
Mine are living inside until the spring, I don't have a shed - and no room for one, so I want it to be nice and warm.
