Silent & Inactive users Empty Silent & Inactive users

Post by Suz Wed Feb 13, 2008 12:03 pm

We've now got 85 members, but only the 'Usual Suspects' post regularly. Any idea's on how to encourage new and quite members to participate?

Here's my thoughts so far, but would welcome suggestions -

1. Send PM to all inactive users, reminding them were still here, getting busier and would love to hear from them
2. Admin/members greet new members on registration in welcome board rather than waiting for them to introduce themselves - (Ice-breaker Very Happy)
3. Now I'm stuck Smile Smile Smile Help appreciated

I think they are both good ideas. How about sending a newsletter type thing by email with a bit of information, some photos and maybe little snippets of the last 10 posts or similar. It would give a variety of information so might be more likely to get more peoples attention and bring them in. Another forum I post on does a newsletter once a month. If you don't want to receive it you can opt out in your profile or through a link in the email

Well we are getting more and more regulars though which is good.

I think giving people a welcome would be nice - I felt a bit timid when I first joined as it looked like everyone already knew each other Razz

I think that the monthly news letter is great it will remind people of what is going on.

In todays busy world we all spread our time thinly over many different activities, more so if we have kids.

I get regular emails from all sorts of people ranging from LandRover parts to Antique auctions.

It reminds me of my interests (never let it be said they are eclectic).

Sorry Suz if it is a pain to do.

Thanks

I'm not sure if we've had a newsletter since you joined, HA. Keef was doing a lovely job, but unfortunately personal circumstances have called him away in the last couple of months. It was good though, and did get a lot of people on checking the forum, even if they didn't post.

If anyone has anything they would like to write to go into the newsletter (even if you think it might be of no interest to other people!) i'm sure Suz would welcome a bit of input Smile

I found through Google.

After looking up hatching quail eggs bought from Waitrose.

That kicked it all off with the help of Ebay and Joy.
