keeping Quail with other birds ?????/

can you keep quail with other speicies of feather, pheasants etc??

Hi,

I have often seen japanese quails in the same avairy as pheasants, they seem to get along fine with each other.

Having seen the damage a quail can inflict on new comers, I would say they can handle themselfs if picked on by the larger pheasants.

i have a few gamekeeping friends and they say you can mix birds but dont crowd them give them space to move out the way of each other

Can't really add to whats been said, but I know bobwhite quail & mini silkie chicken's get on really well

hello again to every1 its nice to be back have missed the chat! had a few personal problems buts its all good now. my birds are great and laying about 150eggs a wk but now just keep japs,italians and english whites but have another 50 in the incubator now

i have about 75 in my garden and another 100 at my mates am just in the process of building 2 more pens so can house them all at mine.hello to you klaire

I didnt realise you all had sooo many quail - thought I had alot at 13

My God - what do you do with all those eggs? I'm feeling a little over-run with my lot and that's no where near your numbers.

i sell alot of eggs to local pubs ect, for thier dinner trade and also some to the local butchers and bakers who sell them over the counter . i plan on having double this amount this time next yr .it brings in a nice sum of money and would love to pack up work and do it full time but could only keep them in nice runs and not battery, they are still my babies
