Selling Quail Meat
Hello everybody,
I was just wondering if anybody could give me some advice.
Next year I plan to breed Italian, CPQ and Golden Giants.
I already have a few people who would be interested in buying trios of Golden Giants, but if I get too many males, I would consider selling them on for meat. Does anybody know what sort of licensing etc. is involved with selling meat.
Do I need a DEFRA inspection, like I would for eggs. I don't intend to go large scale, I would just be interested in selling a few here and there privately to people I know and have registered interests.
Thanks in advance,
Martin

Re: Selling Quail Meat
Hi,
We rear the surplus males for the table too.At the moment I can not find anyone that"Breeds" the Giant 16oz birds that keep the right information I need before parting with cash.
I suggest also, using two of the smaller quails per person, we had them the other day with mushrooms, very nice too.
You would have to ask DEFRA for information about selling them to the public, as rules are always changing these days.Derek.
