eBay - Pharoh Quail

Just been on e-Bay ordering my first fix of eggs since I got back lol - and was checking out sellers feed back when I came across this -

I don't know what surprised me more - the bare faced cheek and lack on knowledge of the seller or some poor buyer paying £24 for normal CPQ eggs

I will now slope off holding my head in shame at paying nearly £33 inc P&P for 36 Red Breasted CPQ

I was supprised to see this advert too. I asked the seller some questions about these quail, One was...... What species in latin are your birds. Answer, no idea!

This person said they were the same size as Japanese quail, but were black? I belive these Pharoh quail are just Japanese quails.

Pharoh is another name for Japanese quail, mainly used in America.I'd of loved to see the buyers face when the chicks hatched and grew up,lol.Derek

Well I just wondered what he was actually selling his first picture is definately a CPQ - Coturnix chinesis, but advertised as Pharoah - Coturnix coturnix, With a stolen description for Jap's - Coturnix japonica - like you I wonder what on earth actually hatched - of the 6 eggs that survived posting
