Bobs Day 22
hi all my bobs are now on day 22 and the humidity is on 60%, ive read lots of people opionions and some people say that bobs hatch on day 21, on day 23 on day 25. so none of them have pipped and ive candeled them and they have nothing i can see but when they was about 14 days old they were definetly fertile with moving heartbeats now i candel them and they are black with the air sac at the top of the big end of the shell is this correct or wrong. please help thanks.
Re: Bobs Day 22
Hi Ronnie,
Bob white quail eggs take 23 days to hatch (I believe). If you've candled them on day 20 and every thing is dark with a light air sac, everything is as it should be.
Keep the humidity around 60-65%, close the vents on your incubator and just leave them well alone for the last three days.Remember not to open the incubator however tempting it is.
Derek.

erm about 4 have pipped and one hatch but i cant see any rocking but cracking is in progress.
Re: Bobs Day 22
woke up this morning and ............................................. i found 4 little bob chicks that had hatched theyve been moved to the brooder so another 8 eggs left 1 has pipped but nothing with the other but they are definetly fertile and its day 25 any tips??
Re: Bobs Day 22
Congrats on those that have hatched . I would leave the pipped one be, and candle the others to see if the poor chickies are DIS
Re: Bobs Day 22
ive just candelled them and 2 havent developed properly and the other 6 are black so i cant see through but they have clear air sacs
Re: Bobs Day 22
as they were 8 eggs ive took suz's advice and i opened them up 4 of them wasnt developed, 1 dis, 2 were stinky yolks and 1 was alive and he was dried up and couldnt break the shell but hes okay now. thanks everyone- i got 5/15 in the end from dans eggs thats the conclusion.
Re: Bobs Day 22
Did you have your eggs in a seperate hatcher Ronnie? Its sounds like your humidity was too low at hatching and the chicks were struggling to break free.
Re: Bobs Day 22
Ok ... next question did you wait until you saw the first external pip before boosting the humidity? Bob's inner membrane can turn either really leathery or brittle depending on conditions
