Re: Temporary housing/hospital cage
Hi,
Thanks Suz for posting my photo.
I was at a bird auction last night, and felt really sorry for Lot 50....... 3 tiny white chinese painted quail crammed into a very small tissue box covered in plastic netting. I bought them for £3.
After bringing them home (after dark) I used a larger box to put them in with clean water and good food, which they eagly drank and ate with haste.
Relizing this morning I had no indoor hutch available for them, I set about building one from stuff around the house and came up with a cardboard cage. It really cost pennies to make.
So if anyone needs some housing quickly, you too can make somthing simple but effective for nothing. The above cage is 24 x 15 x 12 high and will easly hold these cpq's for some time to come.
Recycle....... your not just saving your money.
Derek.

Re: Temporary housing/hospital cage
These are just a few brooders I used for my cpq a few months ago. I have painted them since then and they have made wonderful temporary cages. All three have sliding glass doors. The sliding doors are sheet's of tempered glass that used to be shelves in a department store. The lights are old aquarium fixtures fastened in place with plastic zip strips. I tried to use recycled materials as much as possible. I think they turned out rather nicely. I do have one made with cage wire as well but I didnt do a very good job with the design, they kick the bedding out a bit too easily. Ed
